The Mission…The Great Commission

Something I am greatly passionate about is The Great Commission. What is that you may ask? Well The Great Commission is a mission that Jesus desires for His followers to fulfill. We were given the command to make disciples of all nations. That means every tribe and tongue knowing and growing in the name of the Lord.

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

-Matthew 28:18-20

God calls us in Matthew 28:18-20 to go and make His name known to all nations! Doing this means that we can’t just sit on our couch and expect others to come to us asking to know the Gospel. God expects us and commands us to GO in His name and teach others the ways of the Lord. The command to go is very strong and has such meaning within those two letters.

The command to go is very strong and has such meaning within those two letters. God doesn’t just call us to share in our current environment in a place we’ve known our whole lives. God calls us to be pushed out of our comfort zone. Go to places you may have never been before or even a place you don’t want to go to. We are a chosen people (1 Peter 2:9) and God wants more from us.

Students gather together to pray over the senior(s) who left an impacted on their lives.

The picture in this post was taken at Cru’s last Converge during Seniors Night. They extended the invitation to everyone to come to the front and pray over a senior who has impacted your life. I watched as practically the whole room stood up and went to go pray over the seniors. A crowd full of beautiful people going. There are people in this group who are going to Summer Missions state side and globally. People in this photo are going to intern with Cru across the nation. Other’s are entering a new stage of life in a familiar or unfamiliar place and are relying on God every step of the way.

They are going. Wherever that may be, they have chosen to go where God has called them. I challenge you as well to go somewhere new or meet someone who’s different from you. Be a part of this great mission to see a movement occur! Let’s fulfill the Great Commission together because there will be a day where every tribe, tongue, and nation will know that Jesus Christ is Lord.

After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a great roar,

“Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne
    and from the Lamb!”

-Revelations 7:9-10
